### The
# City Watch
>[!quote|gloss]
><span class='at-lg'>The military much closer to home.</span>
>[!card] About
>The general 'low' ranking military, this is where the majority of Saint Barre's forces lie; made of your standard guardsmen, knights, and paladins, the City Watch is the first stepping stone to those seeking to join higher ranks within the Inquisition or Queen's guard.
>
>The least specialised force, mostly made of your run-of-the-mill average militia, with only a handful of the higher ups being the ones in for formidable plate armor.
>
><span class='at-kicker'>The Queen's Guard</span>
>The Queen’s Guard are a higher, more specialised sect within the City Watch, and are directly responsible for protecting the royal family. A Queen’s Guard member can be anyone from a simple guard who patrols the royal castle, all the way up to the personal bodyguards of the royal members themselves.
>
>Within The Queen’s Guard there is a loose hierarchy, those closer to the family having a far greater responsibility and weight put on their shoulders; these few guards in particular have sworn an oath to protect the family at all costs, the oath including a curse that ensures the same fate if an untimely death befalls one of the members of the royal family.
>
>The role is not taken lightly, and only the most dedicated are able to make the inner circle of knights that find themselves frequently within the court and in the presence of a royal member, who entrust their lives in their hands.
